Ashirase, Inc.
Final Report
In March 2026, Ashirase, Inc. successfully concluded its project conducted at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.
With the goal of creating an environment where everyone—including visually impaired individuals, wheelchair users, and sighted people—can navigate seamlessly and independently, Ashirase conducted a project utilizing its indoor navigation app service, "Indoor Flow." The service aims to alleviate the anxiety associated with mobility for all users.
The project involved a demonstration trial for visually impaired individuals, wheelchair users, and sighted people. Participants used a dedicated app that provided both visual and audio route guidance to destinations, such as restrooms on the first and second floors of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Main Building No. 1 and No. 2. A total of 81 participants took part in the trial and completed post- trial surveys.
Service Interface
The results of the trial confirmed the navigation service's
effectiveness, as all participants were able to successfully reach
their destinations. Furthermore, survey feedback from visually
impaired and wheelchair users was overwhelmingly positive:
Approximately 88% stated they would prefer using the service over asking
a person for directions.
Approximately 88% reported that their anxiety about navigating was reduced.
Approximately 95% felt that the service increased the number of places
they could go to on their own.
These findings confirm the service's significant contribution to enhancing
inclusive accessibility by reducing the psychological burden associated
with mobility.
Survey Results
Moving forward, Ashirase will leverage the results of this project to promote the adoption of its service both domestically and internationally.
