fabula Inc.
fabula Inc., a startup from the University of Tokyo, operates
under the mission of “Creating Emotion from Waste.“ The company
delivers an end-to-end offering that spans R&D on
food-waste-derived materials from manufacturing to post-use
collection.
In this proof-of-concept in Malmö, fabula collected coffee grounds and other food waste to convert them into prototype products. The initiative also enables residents to experience circular economy in everyday contexts.
Building on these results, trials use in the city will continue. Looking ahead, fabula plans to scale their business to international cities starting from the Nordics, while advancing alliance-building with local partners.

FOOD REBORN Co., Ltd. leverages underutilized agricultural
resources to deliver circular-economy solutions in Japan and
overseas, anchored by its core strengths in fiber extraction and
energy conversion.
In this proof-of-concept in Jakarta, the company partnered with local market operators and municipal authorities in Jakarta to address local challenges in waste management and renewable energy adoption, conducting proof-of-concept trials for methane generation, biochar production, and fiber extraction.
The project has helped establish a robust local network, and FOOD REBORN now plans to scale its activities in Jakarta while exploring expansion into neighboring regions.
