There is a custom of taking a break to enjoy coffee with a small
treat in Sweden, called “Fika.”
In this proof-of-concept in Malmö, fabula Inc. repurposed coffee grounds, food waste generated within the city, into materials and prototype products.
The company also identified practical applications for use of the products within the city and evaluated the feasibility of building a circular economy, in collaboration with local businesses.

Jakarta’s local food markets generate significant amount of
organic waste every day.
In this proof-of-concept in Jakarta, FOOD REBORN Co., Ltd. installed on-site resource reuse equipment and conducted validation trials for methane generation, biochar production, and fiber extraction. The feasibility of a resource-circulation model to put these outputs to practical use was also addressed.
