We asked SORA Technology Inc. about the achievement through the PoC in Nairobi and its future business prospects.

As drone usage is strictly regulated Japan, we aimed to expand our business in overseas from the establishment, focusing on Africa and other regions where infrastructure is relatively underdeveloped.
Africa is a key target region due to the numerous social issues that can be addressed through drone usage.

We were able to advance the PoC with high reliability, benefiting from the collaboration between Tokyo Nairobi. Working with developing countries government often involves significant costs in identifying and responding to challenges, as well as financial and human resource burdens, sometimes requiring over a year of preparation in advance.
Our burden was reduced as the challenges and corresponding responsibilities of most stakeholders have already been clarified and well-organized between Tokyo and Nairobi.

We were able to approach potential customers more effectively as our understanding of local stakeholders like NGOs and companies deepened. We aim to leverage the achievements of this project to expand horizontally. We have already been selected for a certain accelerator program.

Going forward, we will continue trial operations with the City of Nairobi and relevant ministries as we collect PoC results and improve the system while seeking collaboration with international donors and private companies.
We will promote the initial introduction in high-potential fields such as agricultural plantations beyond addressing floods and epidemics, aiming for a comprehensive platform that can be deployed in other African countries.
